Social Responsibility
Berg Legal has always sought to be a responsible employer – demonstrating concern and commitment for our workforce and the environment, as well as contributing positively to the communities in which we operate.
Workforce
We have an attractive benefits scheme in place for employees and are proud of our continuing Investors in People status. All our staff are provided with regular appraisals and an opportunity to discuss personal performance.
Berg Legal is dedicated to developing home grown talent and each year the firm inducts trainee solicitors into a comprehensive two year training regime across all areas of the firm. Many of our trainees go on to become Partners of the future. In fact our managing partner Alison Loveday was once a trainee of the firm.
We endeavour to involve our staff in the firm’s plans for the future and hold regular updates giving staff the opportunity to find out more about the direction of the business.
Environment
We recognise the importance of measuring the impact the firm has on the environment. Initiatives are in place to help 'reduce, reuse and recycle' and minimise waste with the ongoing aim of reducing our carbon footprint.
Community
The firm has nominated a primary charity to support for 2009. During the year we will be organising a wide variety of activities to support Francis House Children's Hospice and all staff are encouraged to become involved. For more information on Francis House visit their website http://www.francishouse.org.uk
As a firm we recognise the importance of engagement and active citizenship and we strongly encourage staff to take up other voluntary roles within charities and community projects. Berg Legal is a keen supporter of the arts and are corporate members of The Lowry. Senior partner Reuben is a member of the Development Committee helping encourage other businesses to become involved with this fantastic venue which offers a variety of performing and visual arts under one roof.
